The cookie for your sign in
Name: nine_sesjon. Lives for: 180 days. Set when: you sign in with the code we email you. It holds the name of the studio you are signed in to, your email address, and an expiry date, signed so it cannot be edited into somebody else's studio. It does not contain a password, because there are no passwords here.
It is marked HttpOnly, so a script on the page cannot read it, and SameSite=Lax, so another site cannot quietly use it. When you sign out, it is deleted at once. Without it, every page would ask you who you are.
A cookie for what you give before signing in
Name: nine_forste. Lives for: 180 days. Set when: you start making a film before signing in. It holds a random value and nothing about you, so that what you gave there is kept for you, in this browser only, when you sign in. It is marked HttpOnly and SameSite=Lax, and it is deleted when you sign out.
Microsoft Clarity
Every public page runs Microsoft Clarity, which shows us how people use the pages: where they click and scroll, and where something gets in the way. It sets its own cookies (_clck and _clsk) and records sessions without your name; text typed into fields is masked. It is not used for advertising.
A second cookie, only for an operator
Name: nine_vis. Lives for: 12 hours. It is set only when a Nine operator opens a read only view of one named customer's work. It can only read, it is refused on every write, and ordinary visitors never have it.
What is kept in your browser that is not a cookie
- nine.tema, in your browser's local storage: whether you picked a light or a dark ground on the front page. It stays until you clear your browser's data, and it never leaves your browser.
- nine.framside-ny.v1, in your browser's session storage: the web address and the name you typed on the front page, and the film you picked, so the next page can show your film. It is for this tab only, and it is gone when you close the tab.
- nine.guide.v1, in your browser's local storage: how far you have come in the short tour I give new accounts, so I don't start it again. It stays until you clear your browser's data, and it never leaves your browser.
- nine.forste and nine.slipp, in your browser's session storage: the look you picked and what you typed into the box on the front page, so they are still there after you sign up and pay. They are gone when you close the tab.
- nine-slipp, a small database in your browser (IndexedDB): the files you dropped into the box on the front page, kept only until you have signed up and paid, then sent to your studio and deleted from your browser. Nothing is sent before you have an account.
What these pages do not do
No advertising, no analytics, and no tracking script. These pages load nothing from any other company. Nothing kept here is sold, and nothing is used to train any model.
How to get rid of them
Sign out and every cookie on this page is deleted. You can also clear cookies and site data for Nine in your browser's settings, which removes all of the above at once; you will then have to sign in again. The privacy page covers the rest of what we do with personal data.
