What a film costs, and what you are actually paying for
A design studio will quote you between forty and seventy thousand kroner for a short film. Here is what is inside that number, and where it can honestly be smaller.

The price of an animated film is mostly not the animation. It is the conversation about the animation: what it should say, in what order, in whose voice, and then the four rounds of "almost, but". That is why two films of the same length can differ by a factor of five.
Nine's plans
- Free. Explore only. Nine reads your website and plays its own films in your colours, and you can try them in the chamber. It never makes a film of your own.
- Film. For one person: films of up to 30 seconds in your own look, judged before you see them, with no mark on them.
- Film + Transparent. For a team of up to three: every film also as a transparent layer to lay over your own video, and files in 2K, or 4K for credits.
- Production. For a marketing team: films of up to 90 seconds, graphics over your talking-head video, extra languages, and up to ten people.
- Studio. Films of up to three minutes, and a private channel with a named person.
Each paid plan puts credits in your account every month. A film uses credits, and Nine says what a film costs before it starts and never takes more. The numbers are on the pricing page.
What drives the number
- Length, but not linearly. The first thirty seconds are the expensive ones; the argument has to exist before it can be drawn.
- How settled the message is. A brief that is one page and decided is dramatically cheaper than one that is a conversation.
- How much is reused. A film built from an existing system, your palette, your type, our template library, costs a fraction of one invented from nothing.
- Revision rounds. Usually quoted as if they were free and always paid for somewhere.
Where the free part fits
The free part of Nine removes the most expensive uncertainty: whether the thing will look like you. Nine's free page reads your website and plays Nine's own films in your colours, and it is free because it is automatic. Look before you commission anything, from us or from anybody else. If a studio will not show you what your brand looks like in motion before the contract, that is information too.
Seeing one of our films in your own colours is free and needs no account. A film of your own comes with a plan.

- Turn your website into a short brand filmPaste your web address on Nine's front page. Nine reads your colours, your lettering and your words, and shows your colours on our films for free. On a plan, it writes a short film of your own in that look, usually in a few minutes, checked before you see it.
- 16:9, 9:16, 1:1, 4:5, where each one actually goesA film made for a screen on a wall and a film made for a phone held in one hand are not the same film cropped. Here is what each shape is for.
- Animation for training and procedures nobody readsThe films that earn the most are usually the ones with the smallest audience and the highest cost of being misunderstood.
